Royal House Wins Ghanata @ 80 Inter-House Athletics Competition

The 80th  Anniversary edition of Inter-House Athletics Competition came off on Thursday and Friday 2nd and 3rd February, 2017 under the distinguished patronage of the Mr. Benjamin K. Apperkon (Headmaster). The programme was under the theme: “Advancing into the future with Sports and Academic excellence”.

The four main traditional houses participated in the competition namely;

  • Modesty House     (House 1)
  • Unity House          (House 2)
  • Fraternity House (House 3)
  • Royal House          (House 4)

Mr. Benjamin K. Apperkon, the Headmaster opened the competition with an opening address and stressed the fact that students should give out their best to enable their team win and also gain selection to represent the school in the Inter-School Athletics competition to be held at El Wak stadium.

Student athletes competed in track and field events. At the end of the two-day event House four also known as Royal House emerged Champions winning 13 Golds, 6 Silvers and 3 Bronzes while House one (Modesty) came second winning 10 Golds, 14 Silvers and 14 Bronzes. House two (Unity) came third with 5 Golds, 5 Silvers and 6 Bronzes with House three (Fraternity) placing fourth winning 3 Golds, 5 Silvers 4 Bronzes.

Athletes who placed first, second and third were presented certificates and selected to further represent the school in the forth coming inter-school competition. The PE teachers’ reiterated the fact that it was necessary for students to live active life to keep their minds alert to do academic work in school. They further expressed their for the support from management and staff in making the programme a success.Teachers and students were treated to some music and dance as after party.
