Ghanata Senior High is divided into several departments with sub-department under each major department. Some of these departments are the Business department, Science Department and the Social Science department.
The Business Department is one of the school’s most popular and forward thinking department with rich academic heritage stretching back in the 90s and with an existing agenda for the future.
The department now engages in interdisciplinary business studies in many subject areas such as Accounting, Economics and Management Studies.
The department is proud of its excellent reputation in academics. Whichever business course you choose, you will be taught by leading and seasoned masters in their field, and receive comprehensive, up-to-date tuition that society regards highly.
The Social sciences department is an important department of the school. The social sciences concern themselves with the study of different aspects of human behavior.
The social sciences equip students with basic skills and knowledge that enable them to be useful members of the country. The social sciences provide for intellectual training, a preparation for citizenship and a vocational training. The Social Sciences Department is a big department in the school. Apart from the core subjects, more students read the social sciences than other elective subjects. The main reason is to train many social scientists who can contribute to the development of the country.
The Science Department is one of the fast growing departments in the school. It used to be only one class for the groups but now it is two. This is so because the department is now attractive and delivering academically.
It produces on the average 100 students every year in which almost all of them get admission to the tertiary institutions. This is very remarkable.
It has well equipped science labs therefore leaves students astute in science practicals.
The department can boast of seasoned and dedicated teachers who are selfless and always prepared to help students realize their dreams and aspirations.
The total number of Teaching Staff is one hundred and thirty-three (133) and that of the non-teaching staff is seventy-six (76).
The school employs extra hands to help with the various sections which we termed as casual staff. The number of the casual staff is seventeen (17).
The total student population as of April 2016 is two thousand six hundred and forty-five (2,645).
